City, clergy issue proclamation for a day of prayer for rain

MIDLAND, TEXAS -Mayor Wes Perry and Bishop Michael Pfeifer have issued a proclamation that today Midland will be united in prayer for rain.
"The day we are unified in prayer for rain," Perry's proclamation reads. "We ask our gracious God to bless West Texas with rains that will quench our thirsty land and fill our lakes and reservoirs."
The drought has stretched more than six months and is being blamed for many of the wildfires in the West Texas region.
