Welcome to the 2022-23 Entering Class

Someone who holds honorary membership in The Māori, someone who loves Star Wars cosplay, someone terrified of rollercoasters, and someone who can determine the age of a fish by sight … these four individuals join thirty-nine others to comprise the incoming class for 2022, beginning their seminary journey this month. They bring a level of energy and perseverance to our community befitting a group who discerned a call to ministry in the highest COVID spike of the pandemic. Their surety of call will bring new perspectives to our student body as they grow in this wonderful community. For the first time since 2016, we have a master's class that is year-over-year larger than its predecessor class, and we are delighted to welcome twelve new Doctor of Ministry students as well.

The incoming class of Fall 2022 demonstrates the hard work of enrollment management but especially that of our two new recruiters, Rev. Andrew Frazier (MDiv’19) and Rev. Rykie Marx. The Admissions Office continues a tradition of recruiting an ecumenically diverse class while still being majority Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.). The entering class marks our third full cycle with our De Puertas Abiertas Fellowships and Scholarships and has strong representation among women and students aged 21-31. This year’s class has already set themselves apart by demonstrating a clarity of call and goal-oriented forward thinking. We are thrilled to welcome these students to our beloved community, and we’re excited to see how God shapes and guides them during their time with us.

My Seminary Spot

Each month we feature one of our new banners inspired by our community's reflections on special places around campus. In this month's banner, Isaac Banda (MATS’05) recalls the deep friendships forged at seminary, especially through the acts of worshiping in community.
