ELLEN SMITH, REGIONAL LIAISON FOR CENTRAL & EASTERN EUROPE, GIVES UPDATE ON UKRAINIAN REFUGEE WORK - Ellen Smith, World Mission’s regional liaison for Central and Eastern Europe, led a packed and thought-provoking mini-course during Synod School on the Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.)’s mission in Ukraine.

“Ukraine is a complicated country. It is divided linguistically, by faith and by culture, certainly,” Smith told a lecture hall full of Synod School attendees. More than 500 days since Russia invaded Ukraine, PC(USA) partners in neighboring countries — Moldova, Hungary, Lithuania and Poland among them — have set up refugee centers to care for the many people fleeing the fighting, including children and people with special needs...

From Outreach Foundation ... "It is illegal to be a Christian in Iran. A Letter From Mark Mueller"

It is illegal to be a Christian in Iran. A Letter From Mark Mueller

God is doing incredible work in the world. This should not surprise us, but sometimes it does

The Outreach Foundation is working more closely with Pars Theological Center in London. Pars trains future pastors and church leaders in the spread of the Gospel in Iran and where Iranians gather. What is unique about Pars? Many of their students return to Iran to continue the flourishing work of Christ amid potentially harsh treatment by the government.

It is illegal to be a Christian in Iran. Imprisonment is possible. Disappearance and death are as well. Yet, God is calling people out of the country to be equipped as Christian leaders to return and form underground house churches.

The result is the church in Iran is one of the fastest growing churches in the world.

You can be a part of this incredible work by supporting Pars throug The Outreach Ministry.

Please consider a Kingdom gift.

Friday Story: “Free Wheelchair Mission Sending 1,176 Wheelchairs to Ukraine”

Free Wheelchair Mission, a humanitarian nonprofit based in Irvine, California, has partnered with Invacare Europe to provide 1,176 Invacare Action 1R wheelchairs to Ukraine. A total of four containers of wheelchairs are being shipped from the factory in India and are expected to arrive in the coming weeks.

Free Wheelchair Mission has had a long-term relationship with Invacare Europe, and since their Action 1R wheelchairs are already compliant with European Union standards, they were a natural fit to source the wheelchairs for distribution into Ukraine.

BUILDING COMMUNITY TODAY -More than three decades have passed since my trip to North Antrim — a rugged coastline battered by the sea on the far edge of Northern Ireland. While I still remember the beautiful views from the grassy hilltop above a sheer rock cliff, as well as the bone-chilling wind blowing in from the Atlantic, what remains with me is how intentionally coming together in community is a valued spiritual practice that can foster peace in this world ...

Friday Story: “Not on the Ground”

As events continue to unfold in Ukraine, would you continue to keep the people and the situation in prayer?

In this story that aired on NBC News on March 9, 2022, a Ukrainian family is interviewed while recovering in a Kyiv hospital. The father is using one of our GEN_2 wheelchairs, which one of our former distribution partners provided to the hospital.

Although we do not currently distribute wheelchairs in Ukraine, this story reminded us that the work we do—together, with you—can make a lasting impact in the places we have served ...

Friday Story: “Keep Ukraine in Prayer”

Would you keep in prayer all who are affected by the developments unfolding in Ukraine, including our former distribution partners?

Over the years, Free Wheelchair Mission has distributed nearly 16,000 wheelchairs in Ukraine through organizations including Mission Eurasia, which was still giving away wheelchairs from our last shipment to them but has had to pause due to the situation there.

And would you also pray for individuals like Mykola, a 51-year-old man who received one of our wheelchairs several years ago? ...

UNDERSTANDING RACISM - “I’m a Black Italian, a Black European, a woman who was born in Rome with Somalian roots,” said writer Igiaba Scego. She spoke out about herself after the death of George Floyd, an unarmed Black man who died in police custody in Minnesota after being pinned to the ground, and whose last words were, “I can’t breathe.”

“Every time I think about my education, I think of the Afro Americans. Without them, I probably would not have survived,” Scego said. Her words reveal the deep relationship between Europe and the U.S., especially in the fight against racism ...
