THAILAND/BURMA BORDER - A four-week military offensive in eastern Burma (Myanmar) has pushed back ethnic Karen rebels and forced thousands of refugees to flee across the border into Thailand. The attacks appear to underscore the determination of Burma's regime to snuff out what little armed opposition remains to its rule ahead of elections next year.

Praying for a Miracle:
A Report/Plea from Partners
Burma Army and their proxy forces (DKBA) have continued to attack Ler Ber Her camp and the villages that surround it. Yesterday they shelled Ler Ber Her with mortar fire all day. This morning they started again and haven’t stopped yet.
As of today there are 3521 men, women, and children who have crossed the Moi river to seek temporary refuge in the Thai village of No Boh. There are an estimated 4000 additional displaced people from villages that have been over run by Burma Army forces.
Thanks to your support, Partners is equipping relief teams who are helping the people still vulnerable to attacking forces. We are sending in medical aid, shelter tarps, food, cooking pots, and helping to support the teams in the process of documentation. The teams risk their own lives to act on the greatest commandment: to love God with their whole heart and love their neighbor as they love themselves.
The camp leader of Ler Ber Her also asked for our continued prayers. He told our team leader in Mae Sot that “The people are all praying for a miracle. They are praying that they can return to their homes soon.” Lets join them in that prayer. While we pray, let us also give as we can to alleviate some of their suffering and shine the light of love into their crisis.
You can assist displaced families now by providing the funds to purchase supplies.
