Early service today at First Presbyterian Church-Midland included this video from Stephen Ministries. It was noted that we would be commissioning a new Stephen Minister during late service, and we were encouraged to thoughtfully, prayerfully consider looking into the ministry, taking the training, and becoming a Stephen Minister ourselves. What is a Stephen Minister? According to the Stephen Ministries website, "a person trained to provide one-to-one, Christ-centered care to hurting people." The website goes on to note that "Stephen Ministry is the one-to-one lay caring ministry that takes place in congregations that use the Stephen Series system. Stephen Ministry congregations equip and empower lay caregivers—called Stephen Ministers—to provide high-quality, confidential, Christ-centered care to people who are hurting."
