In the News ... "Fire won’t shake faith"

• Parishioners remember destroyed church

IRAAN, TEXAS - All day people would drive by the corner of Sixth Street and Harte Street in Iraan. What they saw was First Baptist Church destroyed by a Wednesday night fire.

The smell of burned wood was noticeable from blocks away. Bricks from the walls of the church lined the grass. The metal support beams were twisted and bent. There was also a yellow line of tape surrounding the building, which said, “Fire line do not cross,” keeping everyone out.

“It is kind of hard to imagine that this thing is gone,” Deacon Corey Parmer said while standing and looking at the aftermath of the fire ...
