MIDLAND, TEXAS - Advent marks a change in season for churches waiting to celebrate the birth of Jesus, but this year it also brought a new change to the way Catholics celebrate Mass.
Changes to the Roman Missal, the official prayer book used at Mass, came into effect Nov. 27, the first Sunday of Advent for English-speaking parishes around the world. The revisions brought new English translations from the original Latin that affect prayers both priests and their parishes have used for decades.
