MIDLAND, TEXAS - For Mildred Stone, giving back has become second nature.
When she recently was asked to attend a luncheon where she’d be honored for her service, Stone replied that she appreciated the offer but that she would have to decline. She said she volunteers because she enjoys the work, not because she wants anyone to know of her contributions.
“I just like to do it and kind of stay in the background,” she said.
