Today in the PC-USA Mission Yearbook

The Mission Yearbook for Prayer & Study is a daily devotional with 365 inspiring mission stories that come from next door and all across the globe. It inspires thousands of Presbyterians daily as they uphold the mission of the Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.) in intercessory prayer. The stories in the 2012 Mission Yearbook were gathered around the prayer of Paul for the Colossians, that these faithful brothers and sisters would bear fruit and grow in the knowledge of God (1:10).

PALO DURO PRESBYTERY, TEXAS - Good Samaritan Christian Services was formed in Pampa, Texas, in 1982 when a number of ministers from the town questioned how effective their individual churches were at assisting those in need within their community. One minister and at least one layperson from each of the 16 churches involved formed the first committee that put this ministry together. Good Sam's, as it is affectionately known, regularly provides food and clothing to those in need and offers occasional assistance with utility bills. Good Sam's unloads and distributes food from the area food bank and provides Thanksgiving and Christmas dinners. Last Christmas, Good Sam's gave almost 200 children in need three presents each.
