Invitation to Prayer from Faces of Children ... TODAY

Faces of Children is an ecumenical prayer ministry under the auspices of First Presbyterian Church of Midland, Texas. Our mission is to initiate ministries of prayer for children in churches, communities, and neighborhoods. In doing so, we seek to provide an opportunity for people of God to join together, learn about children and their needs throughout the world, and celebrate Christ's love (especially as it relates to children).

Invitation to Prayer, Today

Hi Friends,

I hope you can make it to our time of prayer Wednesday at 11:30, at First Presbyterian Churchof Midland, Texas, followed by lunch together.

Today, Dawn Gary from International Justice Mission will be joining us for prayer and lunch.

Dear intercessors,

Every now and then, I think it's good for us to take a step back from all the pain and suffering and look for those bright spots of redemption and restoration... places where we can sing praises to God for His faithfulness and mercy and rescue. So this week I'd like to share two stories that have captured my heart and attention recently... stories of hope and redemption.

INDIA

On March 3, IJM announced their largest anti-slavery operation ever . 564 children, women, and men were rescued from forced slavery at a massive brick-kiln operation in Chennai, India. The owner and 5 accomplices were arrested and face charges under India's anti-trafficking and forced labor laws. Praise God for this successful operation, these 564 people who are slaves no more, and the ongoing work of IJM to provide after-care to the victims of this operation.

CHINA

A young Chinese couple in their early 20s found their world turned upside down last October when the wife gave birth to conjoined twin baby boys . In a culture where children with disabilities are often abandoned, these parents bravely made the choice to keep and fight for their boys. They had no money for the separation surgery, but after learning of Love Without Boundaries Unity Initiative, a fund setup to help cover medical costs for Chinese children so that they will not be abandoned by their families, they reached out for help. In a short amount of time, LWB raised $60,000 to pay for the surgery and on February 24, the operation was successfully completed. The boys are recovering in Shanghai right now, and the family looks forward to returning home together. Praise God for the bravery of these two young parents to keep their children, for a global community who funded the separation surgery, for the skill and wisdom of the medical team, and for a preserved family!
