Partners Blog: "An Open Letter to the Christian Church in the United States"

Steve and Oddny Gumaer started Partners Relief and Development in response to the needs of refugees and displaced people from Burma, and now in the Middle East, as well. Their mission is to demonstrate, through holistic action, God’s love to children and communities made vulnerable by war in Southeast Asia, the Middle East and other conflict zones.

Dear friends, brothers, and sisters, In the most poignant irony, it was a Middle Eastern man who told us to love our neighbors as ourselves; it was a Middle Eastern man who reached down, walked toward, and stretched out His arms to us. This man’s story is told in a book whose primary theme is love for God and justice for the poor, the widow, the orphan and the alien. Over and over He told and lived stories that played this out, giving us an example that we might follow in His steps, which is precisely and imperfectly what we at Partners have been trying to do for over twenty years ...
