ODESSA, TEXAS - Juan Gomez knew what to expect when he arrived near the epicenter of Hurricane Florence.

The lieutenant from the Salvation Army of Odessa was notified Monday he would deploy for two weeks in Wilmington, North Carolina.

Gomez — who has helped in a handful of hurricane relief efforts, which included Harvey, Ike, Irene, Katrina, Rita and Dolly — said the destruction was evident when he got off the plane on Wednesday ...
