ABILENE, TEXAS - McMurry University professor Bill Libby is recruiting people to work on an archaeological project at Khirbet Iskander in Jordan from June 7-July 11.
Local recruits will work alongside personnel from Gannon University in Pennsylvania, Lubbock Christian University, and Jordanian and Palestinian workers. The site is on the route of the Exodus between Dibon and Madaba, both mentioned in the Old Testament. The group will live in Madaba and enjoy Jordanian facilities and food.
Weekends will provide opportunity to visit Mt. Nebo, where Moses looked into the Promised Land, the Dead Sea for hiking and swimming, and the Jordan River. We will also visit Petra, the ancient city highlighted in the movie “Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade.” Some funds are available to assist in the trip.
Contact Bill Libby, libbyb@mcm.edu, for information.
