ABILENE, TEXAS - The heat - it was 100 degrees - might have kept some from coming early but as they arrived, they were greeted with vendors, face painting and the music of Cassidy Sooter, who spent much of the early evening strumming and singing staring down that blazing sun at Minter Park.

Visitors also got the chance to donate school supplies to the Abilene Independent School District's Homeless Student Ministry ...
