MIDLAND, TEXAS -
John Pfeifer picked up his trumpet again in 1980 after a battle with alcoholism caused him to quit playing the instrument that earned him a scholarship to college. In 2006, he was nominated by fans as one of the top five favorite musicians in the Southern gospel magazine, Singing News.
Pfeifer performs with his sister Candy Pfeifer and friend Mary Jane Carter as part of the Southern gospel trio The Pfeifers. Zach Loyd provides percussion for the group. The trio will be performing at Midland’s Bellview Baptist Church 7:30 p.m. Friday, kicking off the church’s Southern Gospel Nights series.
