In the News ... "Churches use online giving, kiosks to collect donations"

MIDLAND, TEXAS - With a changing population and giving habits in a world where paper currency is seldom required, many churches and congregations are utilizing new technologies to make collection of offerings more simple.
It's a concept that's only recently been taking off in churches -- online giving. While many pay their bills online and through direct deposits or withdrawals, some have found it also more convenient to make donations online to their house of worship.
St. Stephen's Catholic Church recently launched its online giving program where church members can make a donation with a credit or debit card through the church's website. Using the WeShare program, parishioners can also register for church events and activities and contribute a donation, seven days a week, even when they are sick or out of town.
