PRESBYTERY OF RIVERSIDE, CALIFORNIA - During this economic downturn, Riverside's congregations are reaching their neighbors in need.
Calvary in Riverside has served a hot meal one night each week since 1985. Church volunteers personally serve 120-200 guests. The meal opens with a welcome and a prayer, and a church member plays the piano during the meal. A spirit of holiness fills the room amid the homeless and near-homeless as they break bread together. Some guests have transitioned into helpers in this ministry.
