WAW Wednesday: April 1, No Foolin' !

"The Word at Work is a ministry that mobilizes churches and individuals to answer God's call to minister to those in need," writes Rev. Tim Tam, Director of the Amarillo, Texas-based ministry. "Through our relationships, God reveals needs and opportunities for service. As we come along side the poor, new friendships develop and doors for ministry open. As we serve, God provides the resources to supply for the needs he reveals."

April 1, No Foolin' !

Hello, friends,

Your response to our plea for shipping ventilators and other medical equipment to Belize was overwhelming!! Thank you!! The container will be on its way shortly.

If you are wondering how to help us today, the weather has changed since Gabryella arrived; if you are local ... we need warm weather clothes, size 8-9, or funds to help purchase them. Gabby is healing up well. She and her mother, Christine, are here for at least another 3 weeks. She has been taken off the IV antibiotics and is on oral meds now; her last wound vac change is scheduled for Friday, however there is still more healing that needs to occur before we can send them home to Belize. Contact me if you can help with clothing or their medical expenses.

Special Need
While in Belize in March I was made aware of a particular and unique need: Building a playground for special need kids! Not sure where to start, maybe you have an idea?

We are hoping to acquire playground equipment designed for kids with special needs...any of you have an idea who we could approach to donate this type of equipment? Please ask in your circle of influence as well ...

Finally, I'm really happy to share this video with you done by Kurt Oheim. Kurt led a group for us from FPC Arlington, TX; they worked with the girls and constructed a Chicken House at Youth Enhancement Services (YES). The chicken effort is to both feed students and to produce income to make YES sustainable. This church is an awesome example of the relational ministry we encourage at The Word at Work. Please do take a moment to watch ... it might inspire you and your church as well!

ps: Our Ministry Associate team gathers school supplies, toys, and stuffed animals through out the year ... we've discovered blankets are an ongoing need as well, so please be saving them, too. EDITOR'S NOTE: Speaking from my own first-hand experience - working side-by-side with Tim, Kenny and our brothers and sisters in Belize - won't you give thoughtful, prayerful consideration to supporting the efforts of Tim, the Word At Work staff and their partners? Please please fill out this Commitment Card and return it to their office!

Also, remember that you can follow The Word At Work on their Facebook page!
