MINUTE FOR MISSION: UNION PRESBYTERIAN SEMINARY - In January 2014, my wife and I journeyed to Ghana with a group of students and staff as part of Union Presbyterian Seminary’s travel-seminar program. I remember particularly our group’s visit to a wonderful market in the middle of Agbogbloshie, a vast slum outside Accra. We were met by leaders of the Konkomba Market congregation of the Evangelical Presbyterian Church, Ghana. The congregation is led by a pastor who came to this impoverished area to, in Jesus’ words, “bring good news to the poor.” As we walked through the community, people called out to him, greeted him with smiles and handshakes, and welcomed us with warmth simply because we were with him.
