ABILENE, TEXAS - Some people may wonder how Ellie Hamby gets it all done — traveling twice a year to Zambia to help run a medical mission, raising funds for the mission when she’s in Abilene, and even finding time to hang an exhibit of her photographs from the seven continents at Center for Contemporary Art.
Hamby is 76, and so is her good friend Sandra Hazelip, a doctor of geriatric medicine in Abilene. In four years, they have something special planned to celebrate their 80th birthdays.
“When we are 80,” Hamby said, “we’re going around the world in 80 days.”
