ServLife International is a movement defined by values of God’s kingdom, not programs built around human efforts and activities. Healed Heart and A New Life
“Youths will become tired and weary, young men will certainly stumble, but those who hope in the LORD will renew their strength; they will fly up on wings like eagles; they will run and not be tired; they will walk and not be weary.” Isaiah 40:30-31 CEB
As a young woman, Kama found healing, renewed strength, and a new way of living. But the journey has not been easy.
Since she was young, Kama has been plagued with a debilitating heart condition. And when Kama’s father left her mother, hope for high-quality medical care went with him. At 21 years old, Kama was taken to a local area hospital, where she received basic treatment. She also visited many herbal and witch doctors to treat her heart condition, but none of those treatments brought her healing. She was desperate, and worried for her life.
Willing to try anything, she and her mother went to meet with a local pastor, Tul. She told him, “I went to many places for healing and did many things to get healed, but I’m still the same. I want to live; please help me and save me.” Pastor Tul replied, “It’s not me that heals you, but it’s your faith in Jesus that heals you.” He then asked her if she was willing to have faith and surrender her life to Jesus.
Kama accepted Christ, was baptized in the nearby river and began attending church services every weekend. Many people were praying for her healing, and Pastor Tul went to pray for her regularly. Two weeks later, she had a dream where a beautiful white eagle came to her and took her to a wonderful, peaceful green pasture. Once there, the eagle told her she would dwell in that place and it would be hers. When she awoke, her heart pain was gone and she felt better for the first time.
After this healing, Kama has continued to grow and mature in her faith. Even though she was the first Christian in her village, she has shared her testimony and continued to bring others to church. Kama’s smile glows, “God healed me and gave me new life and a new way of living.”

One day, after leaving Sam’s, Jesus House Executive Director Donny Kyker saw that the Fat Head Meats Food Truck was there and after placing an order, he found his new favorite barbeque place.
From there, a friendship was forged between him and the food truck owners Junior Hernandez and Rory Couch.
That friendship will help restock the shelves with canned goods at the Jesus House Odessa this week ...

FBR Report: "Four Rangers Baptized"
The Free Burma Rangers (FBR) is a multi-ethnic humanitarian service movement. They bring help, hope and love to people in the war zones of Burma (Myanmar) and the Middle East. Groups send teams to be trained, supplied and sent into the areas under attack to provide emergency assistance and human rights documentation. Together with other groups, the teams work to serve people in need.

From ECPAT-USA ... "Finding Gratitude"
ECPAT USA is part of a global network of organizations and individuals working together for the elimination of child prostitution, child pornography and the trafficking of children for sexual purposes. It seeks to encourage the world community to ensure that children everywhere enjoy their fundamental rights free and secure from all forms of commercial sexual exploitation.

Dear Friends of ECPAT-USA,
How do we reflect on this past year -- one that so many are happy to bid farewell and my first at the helm of ECPAT-USA? To date, COVID-19 has claimed over 300,000 lives in the United States and 1.7 million globally. While the first vaccines are administered and we eagerly await the end of this pandemic, it is also clear that its lasting consequences on children have only begun to be uncovered. Research shows that trafficking risks have increased, while the ability to identify and support those who have been trafficked has decreased. And in the United States, we have seen a shocking increase in online child enticement reports.
Yet, as I write this, the word that continues to surface is GRATITUDE. I am grateful to the ECPAT-USA staff for remaining laser-focused on child protection and to our Board of Directors for encouraging ECPAT-USA to innovate our prevention and educational programs in the face of unexpected challenges. I’d also like to share the special gratitude that I hold for Survivors’ Council: when I wrote about these brave individuals during my first newsletter of the year, I could not have foreseen that they would serve as the bedrock of our child protection work during this time of crisis. Together, we have been able to:
• blic about the realities of child trafficking and exploitation while defusing conspiracy theories in our “Survivors Get Real About Sex Trafficking” webinar;
• Craft online safety guides for students, families, and educators that provide simple, no-nonsense guidance on using the Internet productively while deterring predators;
• Share deeply moving insights on the intersection of race, justice, and vulnerabilities to sex trafficking in the powerful Survivor Perspectives Series;
• Chart the course on the existence of sex trafficking in all corners of our community, from empty warehouse districts to strip clubs to the most deluxe hotels, for the eye-opening ECPAT-USA Survivor Solidarity Bike Ride;
• Remind us that boys are also vulnerable to child sex trafficking, both in the US and abroad, in a heartbreakingly autobiographical post, “American Bacha Bazi.”
ECPAT-USA also is immensely grateful to our community of allies and advocates. During a time in which so many have faced hardships, you continued to support ECPAT-USA’s anti-trafficking work and to unite in educating others about the urgent need for child protection. We are deeply appreciative of the many generous individuals, foundations, and corporate partners who joined with and sustained us through a year of economic hardship.
Twelve months ago, I had imagined that 2020 would be a whirlwind-- but not “a pandemic.” Even so, I look back at this year in wonder. So many of you have offered us your generous, steadfast support, and there is still time to join us in making a difference with our annual fund campaign that runs until Dec. 31. Your gift allows ECPAT-USA to remain committed to protecting every child’s right to grow up free from the threat of sexual exploitation and trafficking. And for that, all of us at ECPAT-USA express our deepest gratitude.

Teichert Family Update ... “Resting in God’s Faithfulness in 2021”
The family of Karl and Jenny Teichert are serving the Lord as missionaries with OC Africa, in South Africa. They moved to Johannesburg in November, 1997 with their four children; Ann, Scott, Stephen and John. Karl serves as the Southern Africa Director of the Southern Africa Regional Team. Their vision is to see a healthy, Bible-based church established in every unreached village and community in South Africa, Swaziland, Zimbabwe, Zambia and beyond. Their strategy is to partner with key African church leaders to research, train, and mobilize the body of Christ to complete the Great Commission. They are striving to equip local leaders in Southern Africa to reach their nations for Christ and send missionaries into other countries as well.

COACHING LEADERS
• Facilitation of virtual basic and advanced leadership coaching skills workshops.
• Regular coaching of about 18 leaders toward their own personal development and multiplication of church planting movements in Africa and around the world.
• Effective implementation of the Church Planting Coaching Connection website (www.cpcc.world) to match coaches/mentors with those planting new churches among unreached peoples.

GROWING DISCIPLE MAKING MOVEMENTS
• Development of community leaders to reproduce disciple-making groups to share the gospel and form new churches in un-churched areas.
• Train teams to plant small urban gardens to provide food sustainability and build new relationships in Finetown, Windsor, and other communities.
“You are the salt of the earth. But if the salt loses its saltiness, how can it be made salty again? It is no longer good for anything, except to be thrown out and trampled underfoot. You are the light of the world. A town built on a hill cannot be hidden. Neither do people light a lamp and put it under a bowl. Instead they put it on its stand, and it gives light to everyone in the house. In the same way, let your light shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in heaven” Matthew 5:13-16.
REACHING THE CHINESE
• Building the Southern Africa Chinese Outreach Network to envision/equip the body of Christ to effectively evangelize/disciple the many Chinese people and plant new Chinese churches.
• Recruit more workers from around the world to assist and effectively mobilize Chinese believers returning to China.
“It has always been my ambition to preach the gospel where Christ was not known, so that I would not be building on someone else’s foundation. Rather, as it is written: “Those who were not told about Him will see, and those who have not heard will understand” Romans 15:20-21.

Odessa resident Frank Morales stood somberly before Pastor Dawn Weaks as she used her fingers to spread ashes in the shape of a cross across his forehead.
When Weaks finished, Morales used a finger on his right hand to draw the shape of a cross across his chest.
Weaks and Morales concluded by sharing a quiet prayer.

It made sense to me. Isn’t that what pastors do, spending our weeks preparing to preach on Sundays? Isn’t our mandate to offer Bible studies, small groups and classes to nurture faith? We might lead boards and committees and offer pastoral care to those in need and in crisis, but our primary role is to preach and to teach.

From ServLife International ... "Determination for Education"
ServLife International is a movement defined by values of God’s kingdom, not programs built around human efforts and activities. The reign and rule of God should be made apparent to every person on the planet, despite their religion, race or socioeconomic status. We believe that issues of justice are inseparable from the good news that Jesus Christ came to proclaim. ServLife exists to take the gospel of Christ and the hope of a better, more just, world to the lives of people we touch. This happens through individual contributions of time, creativity, resources and dreams.
Determination for Education
In rural Nepal, income has a large impact on access to formal education. Without a great deal of sacrifice, determination, and financial success most people in small villages end up undereducated and relying completely on agriculture for their livelihood.
Sanjeeta comes from a Nepali family that has known both financial stability, and the ruin that comes from wealth mismanagement and a lack of education. While living, her grandfather had sufficient land for agriculture and provided for his family well through subsistence farming. When he passed, Sanjeeta’s parents took over and sold most of the land, leaving them nearly destitute. Being marginalized in such a way has given Sanjeeta’s parents an enormous determination to see her educated.
When their land was sold off, Sanjeeta’s parents weren’t sure how they would survive. Her father started a pig farm so that he could provide for his family without having to travel for income. Although he is committed to hard work, Sanjeeta’s father is unable to afford quality schooling for Sanjeeta and her two siblings without help. Through a sponsorship from ServLife, Sanjeeta is able to continue living with her family and attend school to receive a quality education.
Sanjeeta is 13 years old and in grade 7, and she loves studying Science and English at school. She is so glad to be able to come home each night and spend time with her parents and siblings. Although she is quiet and somewhat shy, she’s been able to expand her knowledge and education. Sanjeeta’s future is being changed by the commitment and generosity of a ServLife sponsor.
