“Normal is Over”

Four months ago, you were probably getting ready for Christmas. Times of gathering and celebration would be followed by ringing in a new decade together, and the expectation was that the new year would have much of the same events as the year before it: celebrations, events, work, relaxation, time with loved ones.

The truth is that none of us expected to be locked into a global pandemic today. We didn’t expect to lose our jobs, stop attending school, stop meeting together, and stop travelling.

The entire world is thrust into uncertainty, anxiety, and into a state of collective grief ...

Whether stuck at home in quarantine or on the run from violence, we believe that everyone everywhere has a fundamental right to healthcare.

In Idlib, Syria, existing hospitals and medical care facilities have been destroyed by fighting. Families have fled for their lives and are sheltering in tents. Tent life is not a safe life; especially when facing a global pandemic that is now spreading in Syria.

Thanks to the generosity of Together Rising, we have deployed a mobile hospital unit called a hospitainer, to serve the displaced communities in Syria 24 hours a day, 7 days a week ...

As we noted on our recent blog post, the world is in an uncertain place. As conflicts progress, displaced families become increasingly vulnerable to illness outbreaks.

Reading the news can make you feel helpless. Perhaps you feel disconnected from the suffering of people in faraway places.

But it doesn’t have to be this way.

If you care about children affected by conflict and oppression and want to do something to help, here are some steps you can take today ...

“Uncertain days: how we practice hope when the future is unclear”

Global anxiety is mounting.

The number of COVID-19 cases increase daily.

Rohingya refugees are deeply affected by renewed fighting in Rakhine State.

More Rohingya are risking their lives traveling by boat to seek safety on distant shores. The journeys are perilous, and often end in fatality.

In Syria, fighting drags on. Refugees flee from the remaining violence of an unceasing civil war that’s raged since 2011. This winter in Syria has been brutal; children are dying from bombings and cold.

In these uncertain days, what hope do we have? What can be done? Is all hope lost? ...

Access to medicine and healthcare is extremely limited in Syria. So when the sick can’t come to us, we go to them with a hospitainer!
