Today in the Mission Yearbook: October 26, 2013
ISRAEL/PALESTINE/JERUSALEM - In 2002 Pal Craftaid established a relationship with the Rawdat El-Zuhur School in Palestinian East Jerusalem. While the school admits both Christian and Muslim students, it is based on Christian principles and led by Christian Palestinians. It is an oasis in East Jerusalem amid the Israeli military occupation, checkpoints, and separation walls. Approximately 220 children, nursery through sixth grade, attend Rawdat. Many others are not admitted for lack of space.
Rawdat El-Zuhur uses the curriculum provided by the Palestinian Ministry of Education but enhances it with English and French, computer skills, music and dance, and a period of dialogue each day that encourages children to express themselves and trains them in using democratic processes. The partnership with Pal Craftaid supports these enhancements.
