Partners Blog: “Uncertain days: how we practice hope when the future is unclear”

Steve and Oddny Gumaer started Partners Relief and Development in response to the needs of refugees and displaced people from Burma, and now in the Middle East, as well. Their mission is to demonstrate, through holistic action, God’s love to children and communities made vulnerable by war in Southeast Asia, the Middle East and other conflict zones.

Global anxiety is mounting.

The number of COVID-19 cases increase daily.

Rohingya refugees are deeply affected by renewed fighting in Rakhine State.

More Rohingya are risking their lives traveling by boat to seek safety on distant shores. The journeys are perilous, and often end in fatality.

In Syria, fighting drags on. Refugees flee from the remaining violence of an unceasing civil war that’s raged since 2011. This winter in Syria has been brutal; children are dying from bombings and cold.

In these uncertain days, what hope do we have? What can be done? Is all hope lost? ...
