The family of Karl and Jenny Teichert are serving the Lord as missionaries with OC Africa, in South Africa. They moved to Johannesburg in November, 1997 with their four children; Ann, Scott, Stephen and John. Karl serves as the Southern Africa Director of the Southern Africa Regional Team. Their vision is to see a healthy, Bible-based church established in every unreached village and community in South Africa, Swaziland, Zimbabwe, Zambia and beyond. Their strategy is to partner with key African church leaders to research, train, and mobilize the body of Christ to complete the Great Commission. They are striving to equip local leaders in Southern Africa to reach their nations for Christ and send missionaries into other countries as well.

“Developing Leaders in West Africa”
Dear friends and family,
Mature and effective Christian leadership is a major need for the Church in West Africa today. The lack of spiritual growth, disunity in the body of Christ, and the continued advance of Islam in the region is a result.
Karl had the tremendous opportunity to accompany Jon Lewis, our One Challenge teammate, to facilitate Leadership Excellence training in February 2020. Karl facilitated leadership coaching skills and Jon presented steward leadership workshops in Dakar, Senegal; Bissau, Guinea-Bissau; and Banjul, Gambia. The purpose of the training was to equip leaders to effectively develop those around them to fully live out God’s purposes in their lives. The practical training was a well-received by a variety of local leaders. Vibrant discussions and personal applications were identified by each participant. Please pray for the fruitful implementation of the leadership training.
In Gambia, Karl and Jon were invited to share about the Leadership Excellence workshops on a local radio station. They were able to weave in the gospel while sharing about the importance of servant leadership. The life of Jesus provided a great example to illustrate leadership principals and highlight Christ’s grace and forgiveness. Many local Muslims listen to the weekly broadcasts about the Bible, so pray their presentation had an eternal impact.
During the interactions with West African Christian leaders, the following needs were identified:
• Creation of sustainable business models to provide financially for families and connect with Muslim communities.
• Development of relevant Muslim evangelism, discipleship, and church planting strategies.
• Effective engagement with the growing numbers of children and youth.
• Provision of more in-depth theological training options for pastors.

• Ongoing virtual, personal coaching of several key Christian leaders.
• Development of follow-up group coaching facilitation training.
• Recruitment of Southern Africans to participate in the West Africa Muslim outreach training and opportunities.
