From @mmm_water ... Feel Good Friday: You help us change lives!

Sharing the love of Jesus by providing safe, clean, sustainable sources of drinking water to the extreme poor in sub-Saharan Africa, Marion Medical Mission is one of our mission partners at Grace Presbyterian Church of Midland, Texas, and we STRONGLY encourage you to read the following to learn more about - and pray for! - their mission.

COVID CONCERNS

Due to concerns over Covid-19, MMM has reluctantly decided to cancel the participation of American volunteers this fall. However, 3,000 wells are NOT cancelled! Our African staff is capable & dedicated to clean water in Jesus' name! Please support them with love, prayers & donations! Together, we make the impossible possible!

You help us change lives!

"Children of the heavenly Father
Safely in His bosom gather
Nestling bird nor star in Heaven
Such a refuge e'er was given."

(Children of the Heavenly Father by Caroline V. Sandell-Berg)

God's gift to me came unexpectedly and powerfully on a Thursday morning, my second week in Malawi. I had stayed behind that day rather than travelling with friends to install wells. I planned to visit the Embangweni School for the Hard of Hearing and watch some of the children receive their new, solar-powered hearing aids.

Our small congregation in Woodward, Oklahoma had funded the purchase of four hearing aids. The Presbytery of Cimarron matched the amount. And so I visited the school and helped to assemble some of the devices.

After receiving their new hearing aids, the children signed excitedly to one another as they turned up the volume on their sets. You could hear the distinctive whistling sound!

I asked one of the teachers if the children could hear music. He responded, "Oh yes! Of course! If it's loud enough, all of the children should be able to hear." I reached into my fanny pack and brought out a very special harmonica, a gift from my oldest daughter. I began to softly play the hymn "Children of the Heavenly Father." As I played, heads turned in the direction of the music. A little girl made eye contact with me as she listened. Her smile, God's special gift to me, was like a sunrise!

Thank you, donors, for making this possible - you bring the celebrations!

Ideas for Feel Good Friday Emails?

Today's "Feel Good Friday" email was shared by Rev. Dick McFarlin, a 2-time volunteer and active ambassador for MMM. The story Dick shared occurred in 2004 - the students pictured above are now adults whose lives were forever changed by donors to MMM. If you have a thought, a story, or an idea for a future email, please share by emailing kimberly@mmmwater.org. Together, we make the impossible possible!
