From TBM ... "The difficult days of a crisis"

Commonly known as Texas Baptist Men, TBM empowers Christians just like you to take on the biggest challenges around the globe, changing the world one radical act of service and compassion at a time. Since 1967, TBM volunteers have delivered help, hope and healing to millions of hurting people and raising up the next generation to do likewise. As a result of its service, TBM has helped start and train disaster relief groups in all 50 states, giving birth to the nation's third-largest disaster relief network in the nation.

The difficult days of a crisis

Good afternoon,

Take two steps outside and you know the Texas summer is here. Nearly every day, the temperature is over 100 degrees. It was 107 the other day in Austin, the hottest temperature ever recorded on that date in the capital city. Sometimes, it just feels excruciating.

In many ways, the COVID-19 pandemic feels the same way. We're mired in the truly difficult days of this situation. Texas is among the hottest spots in the world for the virus. Families are waking up each day to see whether or not their children are returning in person to school. Medical professionals are working around the clock. Some days feel like they drag on and on.

God's word commands us to press forward. In these weeks, Romans 12:12 has been instructive in my life: "Be joyful in hope, patient in affliction, faithful in prayer." The verse provides practical instruction for what I am to do in this time.

We have reasons to praise God. We have opportunities to serve the hurting. And always, we have the need to connect with God the Father daily

SERVE: Leaders needed for September Church Builders project

In September, TBM Church Builders are scheduled to construct a new facility for Hannah House in East Texas, a residential program that helps expectant mothers who need assistance.

PRAY: How can we best lead our families during this time?

The COVID crisis is creating challenges for all of us. That includes our children who face the possibility of returning to a very different school environment this fall.

As parents, how can we best care for our children in the midst of these stresses?

Join us for the latest Fighting Families podcast, where we look precisely at that question as we visit with Jane Wilson, youth discipleship specialist with Texas Baptists.

Thank you for all you are doing through TBM to advance the cause of Christ. The impact you are having is immense.

In the SONshine,

Mickey Lenamon
TBM Chief Executive Officer
