Today in the PC-USA Mission Yearbook

The Mission Yearbook for Prayer and Study is a daily devotional with 365 inspiring mission stories that come from next door and all across the globe. It inspires thousands of Presbyterians daily as they uphold the mission of the Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.) in intercessory prayer. The stories in the 2013 Mission Yearbook were gathered around the question of Jesus to his disciples, “How many loaves have you?” from Mark 6:38. The book is filled with stories of God’s abundance in the face of overwhelming needs and a scarcity of resources.

CIMARRON PRESBYTERY, OKLAHOMA - Jesus and the disciples grieve the loss of their friend and mentor John the Baptist by continuing to work long hours in the mission field! Jesus, seeing their fatigue, suggests a vacation, but their notoriety is so great they cannot escape the crowd. In spite of their grief and exhaustion, they nourish the crowd with food and fellowship.

The Manna program at First Presbyterian Church (FPC) in Enid also rises above grief and exhaustion. At the end of 2011, FPC was in schism over recent constitutional changes in the PC(USA). Nearly half the membership and the pastor departed. The future of FPC was uncertain.
