Teichert Family Update ... Resounding the Call for the Nigerian Church to GO NORTH!

The family of Karl and Jenny Teichert are serving the Lord as missionaries with OC Africa, in South Africa. They moved to Johannesburg in November, 1997 with their four children; Ann, Scott, Stephen and John. Karl serves as the Southern Africa Director of the Southern Africa Regional Team. Their vision is to see a healthy, Bible-based church established in every unreached village and community in South Africa, Swaziland, Zimbabwe, Zambia and beyond. Their strategy is to partner with key African church leaders to research, train, and mobilize the body of Christ to complete the Great Commission. They are striving to equip local leaders in Southern Africa to reach their nations for Christ and send missionaries into other countries as well.

Resounding the Call for the Nigerian Church to GO NORTH!

Dear Family and Friends,

North Africa hosts about 380 people groups where less than 2 percent of their populations are followers of Jesus. Many are desperately searching to find fulfillment in their lives, which only Jesus can satisfy. By contrast, it is estimated that 180 million evangelical believers live in sub-Saharan Africa. God has uniquely positioned and prepared the church in the sub-Saharan region to bring the Good News of Jesus Christ to the peoples in North Africa and beyond.

The Nigerian church represents a powerful mission force within close proximity to many of these unreached people groups. As a result, the Nigeria Evangelical Mission Association (NEMA) held a strategic GO NORTH Consultation from November 20-23, 2017 in Lagos, Nigeria to envision and mobilize missionaries into Northern Nigeria and North Africa.

About 650 pastors, denominational heads, mission executives, and organizational leaders participated. There was a resoundingly clear call to unleash the strength of the Nigerian Church “until there is no more land to work” (Romans 15:23a).

Believers from Tunisia, Morocco, Algeria, Mauritania, and Libya shared each day about the unique needs and opportunities of how Nigerians could join with them in discipling others for Christ. Karl was grateful to be invited to participate in this historic event. He helped share about the growing mission movement from Southern Africa. He also encouraged the Nigerian church leaders to collaborate together to partner with the believers in the North to send regular prayer, vision, and relevant outreach teams. As a result of the consultation, hundreds of leaders committed to set goals, train workers, and raise funds to send missionaries into North Africa. They also agreed to start by praying and pursuing the remaining unreached people groups in Northern Nigeria.

Please pray that God would continue to call his people from Nigeria, Southern Africa, and around the world to disciple the peoples of North Africa. Pray for ongoing, intentional, united efforts to mobilize believers to serve and share the love of Christ with those who have never heard. Thank you for your fervent prayers and generous support in his kingdom!

For His Glory,

Karl and Jenny
