MIDLAND/ODESSA, TEXAS - The city of Sonora is asking Governor Greg Abbott to declare the small town a disaster area after suffering catastrophic flooding over the weekend.Texas chapters of the American Red Cross are already there to help.

“This is quite devastating for a small community,” Tracy Austin, director of the Permian Basin Red Cross, said. “And we’re doing our best to bring them comfort and to give them some relief from the flooding." ...
