Invitation to Prayer from Faces of Children ... Tomorrow

Faces of Children is an ecumenical prayer ministry under the auspices of First Presbyterian Church of Midland, Texas. Their mission is to initiate ministries of prayer for children in churches, communities, and neighborhoods. In doing so, they seek to provide an opportunity for people of God to join together, learn about children and their needs throughout the world, and celebrate Christ's love (especially as it relates to children).

Invitation to Prayer ... Tomorrow

Hi Friends,

If you're in Midland this week, we'll be meeting at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, March 20, for prayer. We meet in the prayer closet at First Presbyterian Church of Midland, Texas. Please join us in lifting up the needs of vulnerable children in our community and around the world!

Blessings,

Carrie

Dear Intercessors,

We see it over and over again... hate spills out in bullets, this time ripping through a mosque in New Zealand.

Please pray for the families of those killed and wounded in the attack, including the youngest victim, a 3-year-old boy named Mou'adee.

Please pray for Muslim communities around the world, including right here in our own town, who are wrestling with fear about their safety and well-being as they live in a world that seems increasingly saturated in anti-immigrant and anti-Muslim sentiments. Consider how you might show love ... prayers-with-skin-on-them. Consider how you might use your voice to drown out the sound of hate.

Showing love -- prayers-with-skin-on-them -- can happen in so many different ways, and if we give them opportunities, kids dive-in headfirst into this important work. This week one way love showed up in our area was through some children and their lemonade stand. They are raising money to help a local man pay for his kidney transplant.

"We need better people," said their mom. "That's what I'm trying to raise: Good little humans."

I'm so grateful for stories like these. Praise God! Although they often don't capture the headlines, there are thousands of moms like this woman seeking to raise children who are peacemakers and love-sharers and community builders. God is always raising up a new generation of leaders, and sometimes it starts with compassionate lemonade stands.

This world, with it's children gunned down in their houses of worship and other children selling lemonade to pay for a stranger's transplanted kidney, is so complex and ever-changing. I'm grateful God is steady and constant in the midst of it all.

All the best,

Carrie
