EL PASO, TEXAS - Ash Wednesday, March 6, marks the beginning of the Lent season, when many faithful begin their 40 days of reflection and sacrifice.

As part of that sacrifice, many fast before receiving ashes or decide to abstain from eating red meat on Ash Wednesday and every Friday during the Lenten season.
