WAW Wednesday ... "What's happening in Belize, you ask?"

"The Word at Work is a ministry that mobilizes churches and individuals to answer God's call to minister to those in need," writes Rev. Tim Tam, Spiritual Director of the Amarillo, Texas-based ministry. "Through our relationships, God reveals needs and opportunities for service. As we come along side the poor, new friendships develop and doors for ministry open. As we serve, God provides the resources to supply for the needs he reveals."

WAW Wednesday: "What's happening in Belize, you ask?"

Friends of The Word,

As many of you and many of our Belizean partners ask “When will we get to go back?” the unfortunate simple answer is “We don’t know". Not to be bleak, but to be honest – we simply can’t know for some time to come. Belize has had a recent spike in Covid19 cases. They had planned to re-open the borders on August 15th, but have postponed that until October 1st. We understand their concerns and fears. However this has created incredible hardship on those whose livelihood depends on tourism. HUNGER remains to be the number one side effect of this pandemic. School is still on hold – they plan to reopen next week. We have heard stories of desperate acts happening in an effort to feed families.

OUR BELOVED COUNTRY AND FRIENDS NEED OUR HELP!!

The Word at Work, which includes all of you and your generous donations, has been in a blessed position through our Feed the Need program to feed hundreds, if not thousands, of families in the past few months. Chepito and Kenny have been working tirelessly helping in so many ways. Chepe tells a story of an 82 year old gentleman living by himself in his hut on the edge of the jungle near The Valley of peace. Feed the Need has allowed Chepe the freedom to help and feed Mr. Fuentes through these difficult times. He is even preparing Mr. Fuentes a room in the village so others can be able to help him. Proud to call you my friend Chepe!!

Another favorite human of mine, is Mr. Kenny Logan!! He has continued to stay incredibly busy during the pandemic. He has helped our friend Phillipa Miller of First Stone Bible Church to repair and remodel her nieces home. Her niece is dealing with a new life challenge – blindness. She is also raising 2 daughters in a house of disrepair. So Kenny was able to find time to work with Phillipa and members of First Stone to do many upgrades to the home. ( Friends of Phillipa, this is another place to help, as she provided the funds to buy materials for her niece). Contact Ron ron@twaw.org for more details. Kenny has delivered countless boxes of food and supplies to so so many families all over Belize. Many other friends and ministries have been able to feed those in their districts who continue to fall through the cracks of society – Thanks to God!!

SO I ASK THAT YOU CONTINUE GIVE TO OUR FEED THE NEED EFFORTS!! Simply click on the donate button below.

SO WHATS NEXT, YOU ASK?

How about ONE MILLION MEALS?!!

Yes I’m serious, ONE MILLION MEALS for Belize!! We are partnering with Breedlove Foods from Lubbock TX. They prepare dehydrated food packages to be shipped all over the world. We can purchase ONE MILLION MEALS from them at 4 cents per meal!! That’s an entire 40 foot container of Food. But we need your help. We have been given $10,000 to get started but $36,000 more. We would like for you all to consider giving a portion of what you would have paid to go on your Mission trip to Belize this year to help Feed so many families. Or maybe you are in a unique position to help in a HUGE way – please do! Will you help stem the tide of hunger in Belize? We have thousands of friends on this email newsletter, and if we all participate in some way, we can FEED THE NEED with ONE MILLION MEALS.

Thank you for your time to read this today.

Please pray for the people of Belize and for The Word at Work!!!

* Keep Belize in your prayers as a Hurricane is expected to make landfall on Thursday *

God Bless You and Thank You,

Ron Allen - Executive Director
Tim Tam - Spiritual Director
