MIDLAND, TEXAS - With twin 6-year-old boys and a 2-year-old girl, Pastor Daniel Stephens assumed he and his wife, Kayla, were done adding to their family.
Kayla wasn't so certain. The Bible teaches Christ's followers to care for orphans, and Kayla said she felt like the Lord asked them to adopt.
Their story is one the Stephens family hopes will become more common in 2012. While their own experience started out of a desire to adopt, Daniel Stephens said they learned about statistics that indicate Midland-Odessa is doing an abysmal job in caring for its children.
