MIDLAND, TEXAS - Ask Robert Murphy, new pastor at Alamo Heights Baptist Church, what his goals for the church are and he’ll give a candid answer.

“I obviously have what any pastor would have as an idea — I’d like to see all the pews being full and lots of lives changed,” he said. “I’d love to see that, but really the main thing that I want to do is what God’s got in store for this church.”

Murphy’s trust in God brought him from his native northwestern Arkansas to the west Midland church. He wasn’t looking to leave the small church he was leading near Fayetteville when he started seeing signs that convinced him God had other plans ...
