Invitation to Prayer from Faces of Children ... TODAY

Faces of Children is an ecumenical prayer ministry under the auspices of First Presbyterian Church of Midland, Texas. Our mission is to initiate ministries of prayer for children in churches, communities, and neighborhoods. In doing so, we seek to provide an opportunity for people of God to join together, learn about children and their needs throughout the world, and celebrate Christ's love (especially as it relates to children).

Invitation to Prayer, TODAY

Hi Friends,

Thank you for joining me in prayer for the children of the world. If you can, we'd love to have you pray together with us this Wednesday - TODAY - at 11:30 a.m., in the gym conference room at First Presbyterian Church of Midland, Texas, followed by lunch together.

Also, Faces of Children is now on Facebook ! I invite you to like our page so that you can see regular stories, prayer needs, and updates from partner ministries.

All the best,

Carrie

Dear Intercessors,

UK // Facing a global refugee crisis, the European Asylum Support Office reports in 2015, nearly 96,000 lone children sought asylum in the European Union, almost four times as many as the previous year. In Great Britain, that has meant receiving nearly 3,500 children this past year. As the countries grapple with the magnitude of this crisis, social services are stretched thin. There's an increased need for foster families to open their hearts and their homes to unaccompanied children. Please pray more families step up to this calling.

Please pray for the people of England and other European countries who are doing everything they can to bring hope and healing to children who have lived through so much loss and terror, including the loss of their families. Pray God helps European governments deal with the influx of migrants and asylum seekers with great honor, dignity and compassion.

USA // The US Ambassador to Jordan has announced that the USA will welcome its 10,000th Syrian refugee in the coming days, meeting the goal President Obama set this time last year. But given the magnitude of the global crisis and the fact that millions of people remain displaced, many are asking the question: "Is the USA doing enough to respond to the refugee crisis?"

Please pray for our nation and our leaders to be motivated by compassion rather than fear. Pray for clear-minded and prudent policies to take shape; policies which place a proper emphasis on safety considerations and help our nation screen and process refugees without slamming the door on those who most urgently need our help.

MEXICO // Our ministry partners at Hogar Infantil, a ministry serving poor and vulnerable children in southern Mexico, shared the recent praise report with us:

"God has called us into a new work, a paradigm shift for us. We were presented with 3 small children, a boy and his two very small sisters. They were in horrible circumstances of abuse and neglect; so malnourished that their hair had fallen out. The two youngest were non-verbal and all three were not toilet-trained. Taking in the boy, 5, was not a problem, as he fell within our age limits, but his sisters were too young. We do not have the staff to take care of the needs of young babies. But there was no way we could break up this small, and already traumatized family. Some rules are meant to be broken. On faith, we have taken them in, trusting in God's Providence to meet the needs of the least of these. The latest word is that they have been able to make a significant turn-around. Amazing what love can do, isn't it?"

Praise God for intervening in the lives of these precious children, enabling their paths to cross with His servants at Hogar Infantil! Please pray for continued restoration and healing in these children's precious lives, along with the other ministry work of Hogar Infantil.

Praying with you,

Carrie
