ODESSA, TEXAS - The Rev. Christopher Wayne “Chris” Hagger has come a long way since the night of Feb. 14, 1980, when he had gotten into trouble in the Navy and was considering suicide when a sailor from Louisiana persuaded him to become a Christian.

Hagger, pastor of All People Worship Center at 2000 W. University Blvd., was in despair at age 18 because he had neglected to file the paperwork for another sailor to take his shift, and a man from Lafayette named Ricky Duffy intervened to save him from self-destruction ...
