Partners Blog: "Naw Roe Mae Paw"

Steve and Oddny Gumaer started Partners Relief and Development in response to the needs of refugees and displaced people from Burma, and now in the Middle East, as well. Their mission is to demonstrate, through holistic action, God’s love to children and communities made vulnerable by war in Southeast Asia, the Middle East and other conflict zones.

Naw Roe Mae Paw

Naw Roe Mae Paw is a 6-year-old girl from Law Klaw Kee Village. Five years ago, malnutrition and growth stunting was very common in her area. Thanks to the work of the village health workers, children are growing healthier and taller. At a recent health screening, the worker found that Naw Roe Mae Paw was severely stunted. The health worker wondered: Why is she not growing as well as the other children?

The local medics checked her and couldn’t find the answer, but noted that she had frequent fevers. They advised the health worker to take her to Mae Sot for further investigation ...
