Daily Devotional from @mmm_water ... How can we show unfailing love today?

During this trying time - with people are isolated and nervous, perhaps even scared of what is to come - Marion Medical Mission (MMM) thought their supporters might enjoy remembering past miracles and connecting with others to pray for everyone affected by the virus, both here and around the world. They are sending a short devotion each Monday, Wednesday & Friday morning, continuing until quarantine restrictions are lifted. These devotions have been written by volunteers and staff members about their experiences with MMM; each is uplifting, positive and beautifuly written. We think these devotions are timeless and may provide comfort and connection for those who read them and pray with them. If you'd like to be on added to that list, email MMM HERE

Sharing the love of Jesus by providing safe, clean, sustainable sources of drinking water to the extreme poor in sub-Saharan Africa, Marion Medical Mission is one of our mission partners at Grace Presbyterian Church of Midland, Texas, and we STRONGLY encourage you to read these devotions to learn more about - and pray for! - their mission.

God's Unfailing Love

"It is good to proclaim your unfailing love in the morning, your faithfulness in the evening." Psalm 92:2

Over the years while in Malawi, I seem to wake before my roommate to lie quietly, to reflect and pray, and to remind myself to be fully present to all the people and events of the day. Even though our days seem to be the same: drive all day on challenging roads, walk short or long distances to the well, dedicate wells with appreciative villagers; each well is unique. When I get out of the truck, I get to greet each person and shake their hand. Sometimes a little one will guide me to the well by holding my hand. Often there is singing and dancing. The women and children will draw me into their circle and try to teach me their dance. It always results in laughter. We celebrate together and connect with our eyes. Mother Theresa says, "Not all of us can do great things, but we can do small things with great love."

Most days, the last well is the most joyful. Maybe because it's cooler but often there are larger crowds waiting for our truck. I'm sure there has been concern that we might not show, but their faithfulness in MMM and trust in God, is that we will come to install their well. The realization that they won't have to drink from the water hole that they share with the animals brings awe. The joy and true happiness when the villagers see the clean protected water spout out of their well is truly a gift for all of us. We gather around the well and pray and give thanks. When I get back after a long hot day in the villages, the feelings of joy linger in the realization that I get to experience God's love in the villagers and in my MMM African and U.S. partners

Application Question: How will I show my unfailing love in the small things that I do today?

Prayer: Lord, thank you for showing us your love in each of the people we meet today. Our faithfulness in You gives us the ability to drive the challenging roads and walk the difficult terrain to install wells today.
