From Austin Seminary: "Ascension"

President Wardlaw's message ...

Greetings again, friends and supporters of Austin Presbyterian Theological Seminary!

We are nearing the end of the Spring semester, contemplating saying good-byes to our departing Senior class. This week we had a special Baccalaureate Service online; Dr. Paul K. Hooker preached as we wished our Seniors well. This was followed by faculty and staff in decorated cars forming a parade winding through campus. Our plan is for us all to return to the campus on Wednesday, January 27, 2021—right after the conclusion of our MidWinter Lectures and Alumni/ae Banquet—for an early afternoon Commencement service.

Today, I wish to share with you the video of a Senior Sermon preached recently by Jeannie Corbitt at a virtual “Chapel” service on campus. Her sermon captured so much of the emotion our grads are feeling as they conclude their seminary experience and head for their ministries ahead. Jeannie herself is heading to a pastoral residency position at Preston Hollow Presbyterian Church in Dallas. An Arkansan and a graduate of Centre College in Danville, Kentucky, Jeannie has been an exceptional student and demonstrates great gifts for ministry. She is a particularly promising preacher, as you will note when you watch this video. Please join me in wishing Jeannie and all of her colleagues in the Class of 2020 God’s richest blessings upon them all!

And, in these difficult moments in our shared life, remember that we’re going to get to the other side—together!
– Ted Wardlaw, President
