September 1 - October 31 is Marion Medical Mission Well Season for 2019. The season will include daily devotionals - one for each day the U.S. volunteers are overseas, sharing the love of Jesus by providing safe, clean, sustainable sources of drinking water to the extreme poor in sub-Saharan Africa. Marion Medical Mission is one of our mission partners at Grace Presbyterian Church of Midland, Texas, and we STRONGLY encourage you to read these devotions to learn more about - and pray for! - their mission.

PERSEVERANCE
Karen Dragano
Volunteer, Colorado
"Blessed is the one who perseveres under trial …" James 1:12
To persevere is to endure hardships, to deal with obstacles, to stay steadfast as you keep
moving towards the goal. Persevering is hard! Everyone involved with MMM wells must
persevere! There are plenty of trials and obstacles to overcome.
Picture the villagers digging that 15-20 foot hole. Picture them convincing the whole
village to commit to this project. What about the doubters?
Picture the Field Officers doing tasks the volunteers used to do. Picture installations that
don’t go smoothly, or where there isn’t enough water. Picture the maintenance men
who ride bikes long distances to repair wells quickly when a problem arises.
Picture the volunteers who long to be at the wells, but are prevented by Covid .Picture
them searching for ways to tell the MMM story and raise money for wells.
Picture the donors who don’t have a lot of money, but want to help. Picture their
decision about giving up something else to contribute to a well.
Why do we persevere?? It’s because we want the blessing! The villagers want the
blessing of health and strength that comes with safe water. The Field Officers and
maintenance men want the blessing of helping their countrymen to a better life. The
volunteers and donors want the blessing of reaching out a hand to brothers and sisters
from the other side of the world. We all want the blessing of seeing children grow
up with strong bodies and minds. We all want the blessing of being used by God to
accomplish this miracle of safe drinking water.
Love always perseveres (1 Corinthians 13:7). The root of perseverance is love of God and
our neighbor. So we encourage and support each other. We persevere through prayer
and God strengthens us and shows us the way. As Tom Logan says, it is only together
that we can bring that safe water that is life to the people who need it most!
Application Question: What are the obstacles you are facing ? How will you persevere today?
Prayer: : Oh God who never gives up on us, guide me to persevere in doing your will.
Connect all of us so that together we can persevere and accomplish the impossible.
