September 1 - October 31 is Marion Medical Mission Well Season for 2019. The season will include daily devotionals - one for each day the U.S. volunteers are overseas, sharing the love of Jesus by providing safe, clean, sustainable sources of drinking water to the extreme poor in sub-Saharan Africa. Marion Medical Mission is one of our mission partners at Grace Presbyterian Church of Midland, Texas, and we STRONGLY encourage you to read these devotions to learn more about - and pray for! - their mission.

FAITHFULNESS
Jordan Banda
MMM Coordinator, Malawi
"And the three mighty men broke through the host of the Philistines
and drew water out of the well of Bethlehem, that was by the gate
and took it, and brought it to David: nevertheless, he could not drink
thereof, but poured it out unto the LORD" 2 Samuel 23:16
Faithfulness is a beautiful attribute. Faithfulness leads people to do significant things
for others although the reasons for doing so could be considered as minor.
This story is about King David when he was in exile from his throne. Perhaps David
was simply recalling when he mentioned his desire for a drink of water from the well
of Bethlehem. Three of David’s mighty men heard the desire of their king and their
faithfulness forced them to go. These men had to break through the army of the
Philistines in order to get the water from the well of David’s desire. They risked their
lives for what was not just a mere drink of water to them but was much more than
that, it was a special faithfulness they each had for their King. Nevertheless, the king
(David) could not drink thereof, but poured it out unto the LORD.
Marion Medical Mission is the typical example of King David and his three mighty
men’s story. These can be regarded as all the people who participate in MMM
operations including donors, volunteers both in America and Africa, the employees
and many more. These people have been faithful enough by putting together
whatever resources they have in different forms to MMM in order to fulfill the
desire for the Lord our God by providing safe potable sources of drinking water to
the needy regardless of all the obstacles that are around us: Covid19 pandemic,
economic crisis, to mention just a few.
King David could not drink the water, but poured it out unto the LORD. Matthew
25:40, says; “And the King will say, I tell you the truth, when you did it to one of the
least of these my brothers and sisters, you were doing it to me.” Our faith in God
leads us to help others although the reasons for doing so could be considered as
trivial to non-believers but we still do it because the Gospel tells us to do so.
Application Question: What have we done for the Lord?
Prayer: Thank you Lord for dying on the cross for my sins. God, make me a mighty
man for you. Amen.
