Today in the PC-USA Mission Yearbook

The Mission Yearbook for Prayer and Study is a daily devotional with 365 inspiring mission stories that come from next door and all across the globe. It inspires thousands of Presbyterians daily as they uphold the mission of the Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.) in intercessory prayer. The stories in the 2013 Mission Yearbook were gathered around the question of Jesus to his disciples, “How many loaves have you?” from Mark 6:38. The book is filled with stories of God’s abundance in the face of overwhelming needs and a scarcity of resources.

MINUTE FOR MISSION: CHRISTIAN AND CITIZEN, ELECTION DAY - The Office of Public Witness in Washington, DC, launched a Respectful Dialogue Initiative (RDI) to coincide with the inauguration of a Season for Nonviolence (January 30–April 4, 2013), a national 64-day educational, media, and grassroots campaign dedicated to demonstrating that nonviolence is a powerful way to heal, transform, and empower our lives and our communities. RDI is a process that trains persons to lead respectful and civil community discussions on political issues. The goal of these dialogues is not to reach consensus. Trained facilitators encourage people to respect views that differ from their own for the purpose of developing strategies to resolve community issues. Presbyterians are given the tools to facilitate nonpartisan discussions among persons with varying political views for productive community-based outcomes.
