The family of Karl and Jenny Teichert are serving the Lord as missionaries with OC Africa, in South Africa. They moved to Johannesburg in November, 1997 with their four children; Ann, Scott, Stephen and John. Karl serves as the Southern Africa Director of the Southern Africa Regional Team. Their vision is to see a healthy, Bible-based church established in every un-reached village and community in South Africa, Swaziland, Zimbabwe, Zambia and beyond. Their strategy is to partner with key African church leaders to research, train, and mobilize the body of Christ to complete the Great Commission. They are striving to equip local leaders in Southern Africa to reach their nations for Christ and send missionaries into other countries as well.
Around the Table
Dear family and friends,
Yesterday, we sat around the table with three Chinese, one Indian, two Koreans, one African, one Mongolian, three South Africans, and three Americans! It was not only that we were sitting together around the same table that made it such an awesome sight, but the fact that our hearts were unified toward one agenda: reaching the Chinese in Southern Africa with the love and message of Jesus Christ.
The past two years, Karl and I have been involved in a network called Southern Africa Chinese Outreach Network (SACON). We got involved almost by surprise and have seen the Lord bring a team together of people in SA who have the heart to evangelize and disciple the Chinese who are living and working here. It was an energizing time of sharing stories, ideas, and resources.
We met in a house in a place called, “The Third Chinatown.” We were amazed as we drove through an area of about 60,000 Chinese people within a 3-mile radius! Our new Mongolian friend was amazed and said, “I feel like I am in China!” We ended the afternoon with a wonderful Chinese lunch.
As one of our partners put it after our meeting, “I think we are going to witness God doing exciting things amongst the Chinese people this year! We need to be expectant, ready, and open to work alongside Him.”
