ABILENE, TEXAS - Virginia Connally, Abilene’s first female physician, will be one of two recipients of the Legacy Award on Sunday from the Baptist General Convention of Texas at the historic Independence Baptist Church in southeast Texas.
Also receiving the award will be Ken Coffee, former associate director of the BGCT State Mission Commission.
Connally last year celebrated her 105th birthday.
The setting is appropriate for Connally, who made history when she opened her medical practice in downtown Abilene in September 1940, specializing in diseases of the eye, ear, nose and throat ...
