Daily Devotional from @mmm_water ... Would you like to pray with us?

During this trying time - with people are isolated and nervous, perhaps even scared of what is to come - Marion Medical Mission (MMM) thought their supporters might enjoy remembering past miracles and connecting with others to pray for everyone affected by the virus, both here and around the world. They are sending a short devotion each Monday, Wednesday & Friday morning, continuing until quarantine restrictions are lifted. These devotions have been written by volunteers and staff members about their experiences with MMM; each is uplifting, positive and beautifuly written. We think these devotions are timeless and may provide comfort and connection for those who read them and pray with them. If you'd like to be on added to that list, email MMM HERE

Sharing the love of Jesus by providing safe, clean, sustainable sources of drinking water to the extreme poor in sub-Saharan Africa, Marion Medical Mission is one of our mission partners at Grace Presbyterian Church of Midland, Texas, and we STRONGLY encourage you to read these devotions to learn more about - and pray for! - their mission.

"Just as a body, though one, has many parts, but all its many parts form one body, so it is with Christ." 1 Corinthians 12:12

When I was in Malawi, I was amazed how you could sense the "personality" of a village as soon as you entered. This was due to the way the headman and head-woman treated their people. Even though men and women had different jobs, everyone was treated with love and respect. The children, though small, would assist in the chores or take care of the little ones. Elderly members, rather than being ignored, were included in the events of the day. The village had many jobs - many parts - but all worked together to create unity and improve their village.

When entering these villages, I realized what a wonderful gift it is to be at peace with your fellow human beings. Their joy of living, caring, and sense of peace didn't depend on computers, new automobiles or other symbols of wealth. Instead, their contentment relied on how their village cared for each individual. There was a general sense of happiness and well-being; a true sensation of what it means to be a community.

Marion Medical Mission has many parts - presenters, contributors, staff members, engineers, machinists, officers within the Synods and Diocese of Malawi, Zambia, and Tanzania, Coordinators, Field Officers, Installation Supervisors, Well Committees, Builders, Zone Management Teams, villagers who dig the wells and make the bricks, volunteers who drive and act as ambassadors, Maintenance People - all are important. If a single part breaks down, the organization is hurt; individuals suffer.

I continue to work with MMM because this is how I do the most good for the most people. During my 30 years as a teacher, I hope I improved the lives of my students, but through MMM, I know I bring the gift of life to hundreds of people. I can help create a better future - a future filled with joy and love and peace - for my African sisters and brothers.

Application Question: Who is with you today, not only beside you, but also supporting you in spirit? How can we better support those who can't be beside us during times of quarantine?

Prayer: Dear God, We thank you for giving us eyes to see, ears to hear, mouths to speak, hands to work; but our greatest gratitude is for giving us hearts to care and love. Ulemu kwa Mulungu!
