Daily Devotional from @mmm_water ... Do we give thanks in ALL circumstances?

During this trying time - with people are isolated and nervous, perhaps even scared of what is to come - Marion Medical Mission (MMM) thought their supporters might enjoy remembering past miracles and connecting with others to pray for everyone affected by the virus, both here and around the world. They are sending a short devotion each Monday, Wednesday & Friday morning, continuing until quarantine restrictions are lifted. These devotions have been written by volunteers and staff members about their experiences with MMM; each is uplifting, positive and beautifuly written. We think these devotions are timeless and may provide comfort and connection for those who read them and pray with them. If you'd like to be on added to that list, email MMM HERE

Sharing the love of Jesus by providing safe, clean, sustainable sources of drinking water to the extreme poor in sub-Saharan Africa, Marion Medical Mission is one of our mission partners at Grace Presbyterian Church of Midland, Texas, and we STRONGLY encourage you to read these devotions to learn more about - and pray for! - their mission.

Giving Thanks to God
Francis Kaponda
Field Officer, Malawi

"Give thanks in all circumstances, for this is God's will for you in Christ Jesus.” I Thessalonians 5:18

Installation season is here again. The day starts with the sound of a cock in the morning. On our way to field, seeing the men and women carrying hoes on their shoulders tells us we have to get to work. Yes, the installation work with its own ups and downs, the broken bridges, almost tipping, the burning sun, the thirst, cold showers, blackouts and injuries have exposed our inadequacy and His sufficiency for every one of our needs.

God mixes bitter and sweet, in appropriate proportions so that they work together for good. God measures with precision just the right amount of sunshine and rain we can endure. He is with us through it all and that we must allow Him to do the things He sees best for us, like calling volunteers to come to Africa to reach out to the thirsty. While we are in His mission, if we complain about everything, we are complaining against God. If we can just hold on during the storm, there is peace on the other side. We need to realize that as He walked the streets of Galilee, as He healed the sick, He is still doing the same today. With this we should be able to give thanks to God in all circumstances, for this is God's will for us in Christ Jesus.

The volunteers' trip to Africa is God's will and is an answer by the volunteers to the call of God to this mission, so that we do more in our walk with Jesus than just going to church on Sundays. We are called to live our lives for the glory of God. Be proud for being a volunteer in God's mission, you have chosen to live your life for the glory of God. May all the thanks be to the Almighty One in Jesus name.

Application Question: Do we give thanks to God in all circumstances?

Prayer: Dear Lord help us realize your constant presence in our midst regardless of our situation. Cultivate the spiritual riches of Christ which kindle the fire of joy within us so that we may always give thanks to you God, in all our situations. In Jesus mighty name, Amen.
