Daily Devotional from @mmm_water ... Would you like to pray with us?

During this trying time - with people are isolated and nervous, perhaps even scared of what is to come - Marion Medical Mission (MMM) thought their supporters might enjoy remembering past miracles and connecting with others to pray for everyone affected by the virus, both here and around the world. They are sending a short devotion each Monday, Wednesday & Friday morning, continuing until quarantine restrictions are lifted. These devotions have been written by volunteers and staff members about their experiences with MMM; each is uplifting, positive and beautifuly written. We think these devotions are timeless and may provide comfort and connection for those who read them and pray with them. If you'd like to be on added to that list, email MMM HERE

Sharing the love of Jesus by providing safe, clean, sustainable sources of drinking water to the extreme poor in sub-Saharan Africa, Marion Medical Mission is one of our mission partners at Grace Presbyterian Church of Midland, Texas, and we STRONGLY encourage you to read these devotions to learn more about - and pray for! - their mission.

Love and Perseverence

"May the Lord direct your hearts into God's love and Christ's perseverance." 2 Thessalonians 3:5

God loves us so deeply that He sent us Jesus. Jesus persevered through a tough life, a painful death, and a marvelous resurrection. They are our perfect role models for love and perseverance.

But how can we expect to Love and Persevere perfectly? Here are 2 role models I think of on my most difficult, weakest days, especially when I am in Africa. Tom and Jocelyn Logan are human, with weaknesses like the rest of us. But they have allowed God to use them, to fill them. For more than 30 years, they have given themselves to this Miracle that we call Marion Medical Mission. God's love has flowed through them to the Africans and Americans who are part of MMM, and to those who are in villages in need of life-giving water. Tom and Jocelyn have been confronted with obstacles, pain, and loss. With the strength of Jesus in their hearts, they have persevered. They are regular people, like you and me. We can love and persevere too.

Perseverance means being steadfast and giving continued effort.. It is NOT driving in the dark to do another well or continuing on a "road" that is dangerous. Love for your neighbor is a decision to treat others with respect and concern, and showing your concern with ACTION, not just words.

When you are feeling discouraged, worried, or just plain exhausted, will you remember Tom and Jocelyn? Will you look at other volunteers or Field Officers who still give God's love, who still persevere with Jesus's strength? Each one of us is different. This isn't a contest. No one ever said Love and Perseverance would be easy. But it IS possible!

Application Question: Whenever you feel like giving up, will you ask God to lead your heart into His love and Christ's perseverance?

Prayer: Oh strong and loving God, will you show me how to Love and Persevere in my weakest moments? Be in me and with me as I walk the path you have laid out. I am grateful for the role models you give me. I am grateful that you use ordinary people in extraordinary ways. Please use me too.
