MIDLAND, TEXAS - The economic boom is bringing a different type of client to the doors of Midland Baptist CRISIS Center.
Local Baptist churches started the cooperative ministry in 1982 to provide food, clothing and some financial assistance to the city's marginalized population.
Now 25 churches and individuals around the community support the benevolence program, and it's starting to see more young and elderly residents seeking help.
"It's a different sort of client," said Susan Edwards, director of the center. "Some folks have no opportunities for any real change in their lives."
