The Mission Yearbook for Prayer and Study is a daily devotional with 365 inspiring mission stories that come from next door and all across the globe. It inspires thousands of Presbyterians daily as they uphold the mission of the Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.) in intercessory prayer. The stories in the 2013 Mission Yearbook were gathered around the question of Jesus to his disciples, “How many loaves have you?” from Mark 6:38. The book is filled with stories of God’s abundance in the face of overwhelming needs and a scarcity of resources.
Today in the Mission Yearbook: June 16, 2013
MINUTE FOR MISSION: MEN OF THE CHURCH - Father’s Day is also Men of the Church Sunday for the Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.), a day to honor the ministry of the men in the church. In some congregations, one or more men will be surprised as they are honored as Church Man of the Year and their contribution to the life of a particular congregation is recognized and celebrated.
One large group of men who qualify for such honor is the Presbyterian Men Mission Network (PMMN) of the Synod of the Trinity. The group was organized in 2007 and has been at work in 32 of Pittsburgh Presbytery’s 142 congregations. Eric Harrison, PMMN leader, is a very active retired general construction professional and a member of Westminster Presbyterian Church. He leads PMMN in encouraging men to volunteer their professional and personal expertise to help congregations with their building and program challenges.
